Again Again

Every win comes back as your enemy.

Again Again is a top-down arena game about fighting your own past.

Rounds alternate between ATTACK and DEFEND. Every round you win is recorded — every move, every shot — and comes back on the other side as a ghost:

• Attack, and your run becomes a defender you'll have to get past next time.
• Defend, and your defense becomes an attacker you'll have to stop.

Each victory adds another ghost to the field. The better you play, the harder your past gets. To win, you have to beat everything you've ever done.

Read your past self

Ghosts replay your exact inputs, frame by frame. Before every round you see where they'll go and where they'll shoot — as long as nobody gets in their way. Learn your old habits, find the gap, and break your own timeline.

How to play

• ATTACK — reach the target before the clock runs out.
• DEFEND — destroy every attacker, then return to the portal.

About this build

This is an early game concept prototype: one arena, placeholder sound and music. We're now working toward a polished vertical slice — feedback is very welcome in the comments.

Where it comes from?

Again Again is the evolution of Again, made in 48 hours for Ludum Dare 47 (October 2020, theme "Stuck in a Loop"). Same idea, rebuilt from scratch: a deterministic core where your ghosts replay you exactly.
